A six-year-old boy who was critically injured in a suspected arson attack at his family home in County Waterford has died, bringing the death toll to five.
Elliot English passed away on Friday at Children's Health Ireland (CHI) hospital in Crumlin, Dublin. His parents, Kim and Philip English, and two of his siblings, 12-year-old Callum and nine-year-old Jayden, died in the fire at their home on Birch Avenue, on the outskirts of Waterford, on 13 October.
Another child, who was also critically injured, remains in hospital.
Investigation and arrests
Gardaí (Irish police) have launched a multiple murder investigation. In a brief statement on Friday, they said: "The thoughts of all members of An Garda Síochána are with the extended English family at this sad time."
A number of people arrested in connection with the attack have been released without charge.
In the days following the fire, hundreds of people attended a prayer vigil, and flowers were left at the home in tribute to the family.
