New Vision Printing and Publishing Company Ltd has been recognised for its commitment to transparent financial practices at the 2026 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards, an annual ceremony organised by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). The event took place at the Kampala Serena Hotel and was presided over by George William Nyombi Thembo, the executive director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).

Recognition for Accountability

The FiRe Awards Committee recommended a Certificate of Recognition for New Vision in the Parastatals and Government Business Enterprises (GBEs) category. According to ICPAU president CPA Timothy David Ediomu, the honour acknowledges the media house's efforts to maintain high standards of financial disclosure and accountability.

Ediomu described New Vision as Uganda's largest media company, noting its presence across social media, print, radio and television. He also thanked the company for its long-standing support as a co-sponsor of the awards.

Top Performers in the Category

In the Parastatals and GBEs category, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) emerged as the overall winner. The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda was named first runner-up, while the Uganda National Oil Company Limited took second runner-up position.

The ceremony drew a range of distinguished guests, including Richard Byarugaba, executive director of finance at the Bank of Uganda, who was seen conversing with Nyombi Thembo after the keynote address. ICPAU vice-president Alfred Kabuchu also attended.

Other Winners Celebrated

Pearl Bank was among the institutions recognised for outstanding financial reporting and commitment to sustainability. The bank's chief finance officer, Fred Sseruyange, received the award from Ediomu and celebrated with colleagues. The Uganda Martyrs Hospital, Nsambya, also received an award at the event.

Winners posed for group photographs as the ceremony celebrated excellence in financial reporting across various sectors. The FiRe Awards remain a key platform for promoting accountability and best practices in financial disclosure among Ugandan organisations.
