Kampala Serena Hotel's Victoria Hall, typically a venue for glamorous entertainment, transformed into a sanctuary of gospel music and worship on Saturday night, November 7. The occasion was Levixone's A One Tym Experience concert, a celebration of his 17 years in gospel music and ministry. The event drew thousands of music lovers, church leaders, politicians, business executives, and families, all gathered to witness a night of powerful performances and emotional moments.

A Star-Studded Affair

The evening kicked off with uplifting performances by the House of Love Choir, setting the tone for what was to come. Shortly before 10:00pm, Levixone, dressed in snow-white attire, took the stage with a live band. He opened with popular hits like Turn the Replay, immediately engaging the audience. The reggae-inspired Jungle and the energetic Guno Omwaka had guests on their feet, singing and dancing along. Levixone's ability to fuse gospel messages with contemporary sounds such as reggae, dancehall, and Afro rhythms was on full display, proving why his music resonates beyond traditional gospel audiences.

An Emotional Breakdown

The night's most poignant moment came when Levixone broke down in tears mid-performance. Overwhelmed by the sight of hundreds singing along, he struggled to contain his emotions, a testament to his 17-year journey. His wife, singer Desire Luzinda, joined him on stage to comfort him, later joining in the entertainment and leading moments of praise. Their chemistry drew cheers from the crowd.

Testimonies and Continental Flair

Socialite Meddie Sentongo also made a public appearance, his first after a 12-year court battle involving a Shs1.2b case. He told the audience he had come to celebrate his life with people of God, adding a layer of testimony to the evening. The concert had a continental feel with performances by Congolese gospel singers Grace Lokwa and Fiston Mbuyi, Malawi's Wendy Harawa, and Zambia's Abel Chungu. Local artistes like Vinka, Elijah Kitaka, and Ray G also showed support, with Ray G joining Levixone for their collaboration Yoya, and Grace Morgan sharing the stage for Embeera (Wabula). Mickie Wine and Pastor Aloysius Bugingo also joined the headline act, dancing and entertaining the crowd. The British High Commissioner to Uganda, Lisa Chesney, was among the distinguished guests.

Giving Back

Beyond entertainment, the concert had a charitable component: Shs10,000 from each ticket sold was dedicated to Levixone's initiatives, including Feeding Kosovo, Women in Hospital Outreach, and Sports for Christ Prison Outreach. The production was top-notch, with large screens displaying live footage and visuals that complemented the performances, while carefully designed backdrops and lighting reinforced the gospel theme. I&M Bank, the official banking partner, reaffirmed its support for entertainment and lifestyle experiences. Annette Nakiyaga, the bank's Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, said, "At I&M Bank, we believe in supporting experiences that bring people together. We have partnered with different events across entertainment, sports and lifestyle, and it was exciting to extend that support to gospel music through Levixone's concert."

The A One Tym Experience was more than a celebration of 17 years in music. Between Levixone's tears, Sentongo's testimony, the continental performances, and collective moments of worship, the evening reminded us how music can unite people from all walks of life.
