The Hotel and Tourism Training College (HTTC) in Jinja city is preparing to celebrate a significant milestone, with 782 students set to graduate during its 17th Graduation Ceremony on November 20. The event will take place at the college's campus and marks another chapter in the institution's contribution to Uganda's hospitality and tourism sector.

The ceremony will be presided over by the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Col. (Rtd) Tom Butime, underscoring the government's recognition of the college's role in developing skilled professionals for one of the country's key economic sectors.

A Theme Focused on Excellence and Innovation

According to the college Principal, Richard Kawere, this year's graduation will be held under the theme: Advancing Service Excellence and Innovation for Africa's Hospitality and Tourism Future. The theme reflects the growing demand for high-quality service and creative approaches in the hospitality industry, both within Uganda and across the African continent.

The graduation comes at a time when Uganda's tourism sector is steadily recovering and expanding, creating new opportunities for trained professionals. HTTC has long been regarded as a vital institution for equipping young people with practical skills in hotel management, culinary arts, tourism operations, and related fields.

Preparing Graduates for a Competitive Industry

The 782 graduands will join a growing alumni network of professionals who have passed through the college's programs. Many of them are expected to take up roles in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and tourism enterprises across the country and beyond.

The ceremony is anticipated to attract parents, guardians, industry stakeholders, and government officials, all gathered to witness the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by the students. For many families, the day represents not only academic achievement but also the beginning of promising careers.

As the college marks its 17th graduation, the focus remains on producing graduates who can meet the evolving demands of the hospitality and tourism industry, with an emphasis on service excellence and innovation. The event is expected to highlight the institution's ongoing commitment to shaping the future of Africa's hospitality sector.
