A school bus has crashed in eastern France, leaving several people injured, according to local officials. The incident occurred on Friday morning in the town of Lent, situated about 34 miles (55km) from the Swiss border and north-east of Lyon.

Bus Left Road and Hit Tree

Yves Cristin, the mayor of Lent, told French media that the bus "left the road and hit a tree in the ditch." The Ain prefecture and the education minister confirmed that there were "several victims."

French Education Minister Édouard Geffray stated that the crash involved a school bus. Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot announced he was en route to the scene.

Geffray expressed his concern for the students affected, saying his thoughts were with "students involved in the accident" and noted that it is "always difficult when our children are victims of accidents of this nature."

Emergency Response

Emergency services are currently at the scene, and a helicopter has been deployed to assist with the response. The condition of the victims and the total number of people injured have not yet been released.

This is a developing story, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
