KCCA FC continued their remarkable resurgence in the Uganda Premier League, claiming a commanding 3-0 win over Maroons FC at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Wednesday to stretch their winning run to six consecutive matches.

Own Goals Set the Tone

The visitors found themselves under pressure from the opening whistle, and their defensive troubles proved costly early on. In just the sixth minute, Derrick Basoga inadvertently turned Herbert Achayi's cross into his own net, handing KCCA the lead.

KCCA carried a 1-0 advantage into the halftime break, though the scoreline could have been far more lopsided had Sammy Ssebaduka, Charles Lwanga and Saidi Mayanja converted their chances with greater precision.

Nunda's Painful Moment

The hosts kept pushing after the restart and were rewarded in the 70th minute. Substitute Ashraf Mugume whipped in a corner that the Maroons backline failed to deal with, and the ball ricocheted off Jackson Nunda before finding the net, marking the visitors' second own goal of the afternoon.

The moment was especially bitter for Nunda, who was facing his former employers. The mishap left Maroons facing an uphill battle to salvage anything from the contest.

KCCA put the result beyond doubt five minutes from time when substitute Lazaro Bwambale slotted home a pass to complete the 3-0 scoreline.

Recovery Mission Continues

The victory lifts the 13-time league champions to fourth place with 19 points from nine matches, four adrift of table-toppers BUL FC, who have played the same number of games.

It also extends an impressive turnaround for KCCA, who opened the campaign with back-to-back 2-0 defeats to NEC FC and Express FC before finding their rhythm.

URA Edge Seven-Goal Thriller

Elsewhere, URA FC survived a spirited challenge from Kataka FC to claim a dramatic 4-3 victory in Bukedea, making it three wins on the trot since Sam Ssimbwa returned as head coach.

URA raced into a 2-0 lead inside the opening nine minutes, with Dennis Kisiriko striking in the fourth minute and Moses Aliro doubling the advantage in the ninth.

Kataka clawed their way back before the interval, as Martin Wambi pulled one back in the 37th minute and Ali Ssentamu levelled proceedings two minutes before the break.

Nelson Ssenkatuka restored URA's lead in the 56th minute, but Kataka responded again in the 69th minute when Richard Lampani converted a penalty to make it 3-3.

Just as the hosts looked set to claim a point, Abraham Tusubira struck in the 85th minute to seal all three points for URA and keep their momentum rolling under Ssimbwa.
